One of my earliest memories, is of my Dad doing a line drawing of a seagull in about 2 seconds. I was about 3 or 4 years old at the time, and I was totally amazed by this demonstration of skill. Somehow that image has always stuck with me. He was a very creative person. I realize that I must have gotten some of my creativity from him. I am an artist, yes, but the creativity goes beyond art. I look at problems that present themselves as a challenge.
As an artist, experimenting with different grounds and materials to produce the desired effects is part of my process. I have worked with oils, watercolours, acrylics and alcohol inks just to name a few. One project that I created during the lockdowns, was a windowsill with over 60 tiles that I painted using alcohol inks.
My favourite quote is by Van Gogh “If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”
