PAINTINGS

These paintings were done in dedication to my father who passed on January 4th, 2022

Cardinal – “Watching Over Me”
In certain cultures, seeing a cardinal is perceived as an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our heart. When I see you, I know love isn’t far.

Moose – “A Friendly Force”
For anyone who knew my dad, they knew there was this inherent connection between him and his beloved moose. He lived for the moose hunt every year, and had an astounding amount of knowledge about this animal, from decades of learning and countless hunts. But more than that, I feel like he resonated with this animal on another level. Larger than life. Headstrong but with immense wisdom. In their way, moose are the epitomization of the balance between your strong side and your soft side. If he gets a second shot on this big blue planet, his spirit will happily return as a moose, standing strong and keeping watch.

Fish -” Reel ‘er in!”
Dad loved to fish; something he passed on to me. We shared the same zodiac sign (Pisces – the fish) with our birthdays just a few days apart, and he was always happiest near water. Hope you like this catch, dad.

Loon – “Magic on Loon Lake”
Growing up on the Trent, dad taught me a lot about the many different types of wildlife you can find in rivers, lakes, swamps and forests. One animal that always fascinated me was the loon. Their otherworldly call being a constant in the lush twilight or golden early mornings. Their presence always seemed so magical to me for reasons I cannot explain, only feel. A testament to lake/river life as a whole.

Not a day goes by where I don’t think about it or internally thank him for helping me connect to nature at a young age.
