In my ink work, I strive to create a feast of detail that can be enjoyed from a distance, or with one’s nose hovering a centimetre from the page. I’m inspired by the meticulously-detailed book and serial illustrations of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as the work of more contemporary comic book artists.
I love to draw monsters – pulled from folklore, or cryptids of my own creation. Although each creature is a horror, I don’t draw them committing horrifying acts. Instead, they are simply living their lives at the fringes of society, or preferably, hidden deep in the woods. With the monsters comfortably in their home turf, the viewer may feel like an intruder, or a fellow monster if they so choose.
