Artist’s Statement/Biography
I took up photography three years ago when I retired. I focus on capturing images that celebrate nature, landscapes and rural life. I love stories, and good photographs tell stories and/or make emotional connections. One elderly woman bought a framed image of an old, crusty, red handpump because it reminded her of when she pumped water as a child. She hugged the photograph to her chest, closed her eyes, and smiled; now that made my entire year! My journey is always evolving as I learn more. So far, I’ve exhibited in the Community Corridor at the L&A Hospital; public libraries; the juried Art in the Sawmill show (Verona); the Minto Arts Council Juried show (Harriston Ontario); and, the Juried Christmas Market at the Wellington County Museum (Elora, Ontario). I spend my time in Bellrock, Ontario at an old farmhouse where my grandma was born, and at my home in Fergus, Ontario.
