“I am so grateful that I was afforded the luxury of a childhood spent in the Canadian outdoors and it’s my hope that my pieces represent the beauty of where I live and the things I love.”
Bill Vanwart
Some days I feel like I am 85 but I am not.
I studied Art and Art History at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College, obtaining a Major in Art and a Minor in Geography. I earned a Teacher’s Degree at the University of Toronto.
My first teaching job was in Cranberry Portage in Northern Manitoba. I was 25 years old, teaching Art and Geography. As years went by, I taught in Odessa and Napanee and finished my career in Cloyne. Most of my teaching was in the Art area. I was the Department Head of Art in every school I taught in at one time or another.
I always ran an Art Club, coached many sports, ran school assemblies, Art shows for the students and was involved in the school musicals etc. I had a wonderful time teaching. I absolutely loved it.
I have been painting for years, starting with watercolours and moving on to acrylics and then to oils. I am still cranking our paintings and selling them locally and around the world.
I am very lucky to have Art in my life.
After putting this together, I now feel like I am almost 90!
